I got the idea for this several years ago when Dad described the battle he had while hauling this lake trout into his boat when fishing alone. He said he fought it for over an hour. He was trolling using a record spoon lure fishing near the bottom depths of lake Willoughby in Vermont. Once he was able to get it close to net it, he injured his back pulling it into his boat.
Hearing this story, I decided I needed to do a painting of him. I received a Polaroid for reference a few years later. Eventually, I will be painting this study.
Dad passed away on August 29, 2016. He was 90. I love you and miss you dad.
